We weren't sure how we could make COMPLY better in its third year-but then it hit us, expand it to two days! Adding an additional day to the conference allowed us to offer more individual presentations and breakout sessions so attendees could tailor what they wanted to learn. The added content coupled with more networking opportunities, and of course more parties, meant that we could #HaveMoreFun at COMPLY2017!
The buzz at COMPLY this year was all about RegTech. PerformLine CEO Alex Baydin confessed in his opening remarks that it was at COMPLY2016 when he first heard the term ‘RegTech’ being used and how the name drove clarity on what our sector is all about. RegTech helps define the wide variety of technology companies that are innovating to help the enterprise meet their regulatory obligations. The term galvanized what PerformLine and other companies have been building and what the conference theme was all about, RegTech: Where Compliance Meets Innovation! RegTech was a topic of discussion during several of the sessions including The Future of RegTech, The Investors Thesis in RegTech and FinTech, and the reveal of our Summer 2017 Complaint Risk Signal Report.
Keynote presentations were a big hit this year as well. Making a Culture of Compliance Contagious by LaSalle Vaughn of USAA, Leading Your Company Through A Compliance Crisis by Donna Bucella of Guidepost Solutions, An Overview of The CFPB Complaint Process by Scott Steckel of the CFPB, Managing Risk Like a Topgun by Navy Commander David Baird, and the hilarious marketing and branding guru Scott Stratten added depth to the jam-packed agenda by divulging the challenges and opportunities they've been through and how they managed to come out on top.
The last session of the conference started with a bang when the Brooklyn United Marching Band energized the audience and led two engaging figures up to the stage: LendingTreeFounder and CEO, Doug Lebda and PerformLine Founder and CEO, Alex Baydin. It was the perfect way to end the conference, listening in as the discussion brought together the many topics of the day: technology, compliance, entrepreneurship, and why Doug believes in effectuation.
